On 15 November 2019, we celebrated our 50th birthday at the Wild Yak Tibetan Restaurant in Dee Why. Guests included TFG supporters, founder, committee members and friends and family. We were also very lucky to have in attendance 5 members of the Tibetan Government in Exile in India who were visiting Australia.
The evening started with TFG President, Tashi Dorjee welcoming everyone to the night and thanking everyone for the support of TFG over the years. We enjoyed musical performances and delicious Tibetan food at the restaurant. Following dinner, Leona Kieran shared with attendees how the TFG was formed in Australia and its history. Founder of the TFG, Valerie Grogan, also spoke candidly about how TFG Australia came into existence and its journey, expressing her pleasure in knowing that the TFG continues to operate today.
TFG Patron Joan M Wilson OAM further reflected on the history of the TFG and its achievements over the years and shared special anecdotes about Tibetans who had been helped through TFG and others she had helped personally who she is still in contact with. Khatas were offered to the speakers and the TFG committee.
We gave certificates of appreciation to many on the night to show our gratitude for their support of TFG and all that they have done and are doing to help the Tibetans.
It was a wonderful night celebrating the 50th birthday of TFG Australia. We are thankful to everyone who came and contributed to the evening.
