Lha Charitable Trust is a grass-root, 12AA & 80G non-profit organization, and one of the largest Tibetan social work organizations. Lha seeks to generate an atmosphere of harmony and cooperation within the community by tending to the needs of the impoverished and underprivileged.
Projects and Free Community Services
Lha Charitable Trust is unique in the range and quality of the services they offer, all of which are free of charge. These services includes English, French, Chinese, Tibetan and German Language Classes, cultural exchange programs, computer classes, health and environmental awareness education, a community soup kitchen, clean water projects, volunteer opportunities and co-ordination, publication of free community magazine and many other activities, as well as facilitating an easy transition for the Tibetan refugee community and providing long term rehabilitation resources.
Under the Lha’s major projects comes, Clean Water Project where they install water filtration systems to provide clean drinking water. Lha has installed 21 water filter systems in hospitals, schools, old age people home, monasteries, etc. benefiting over thousands of people so far. Lha Community Soup
Kitchen aims to alleviate the malnutrition cases in the Dharamsala community by providing healthy and nutritious food over 50-60 people every day for free of cost. Lha Dental and Eye Care Project provide dental and eye care assistance to the poor and needy people, over hundreds of people have been benefited from this project. Contact News Letter, a free monthly publication of News related to Tibet and Tibetan situation both inside and outside Tibet. Lha publish over a thousand copies of Contact News Letter every month and distributed over many diplomat offices, colleges, Tibetan Settlement offices, individual sponsors and many other offices and individuals in India, Europe and America.
Lha also provides services to the visitors to Dharamsala. Taking part in these services gives visitors a chance to experience Tibetan culture first-hand, to be surrounded by Tibetan ritual, to learn, to connect with and support the refugee community and to volunteer on community projects. These services include, Volunteer Opportunities,
Reception and Orientation, Tibetan Home Stay, Cultural Exchange Program, Community Library and Community News Letter.
